Daniel and I were talking last night about Mother's Day. I asked if I get to celebrate it this year or if I have to wait until next year. We did determine that I can celebrate this year. The funny thing is, Daniel and I don't really celebrate holidays like most people. We don't do birthday presents or Christmas presents with each other. It's not that we don't love each other enough to give presents, it's more that we would rather get things throughout the year that we want/need, for no reason at all. It works for us.
So, with Mother's Day, it's no different. I don't expect anything, especially from Daniel. After all, why would Daniel get me anything for Mother's Day? I'm not his mother.
I wonder how many mom's can agree with me on this?

I think you might change your mind next year!! ha-ha! A day off of changing diapers or child duties might be a welcome day of celebration! I am not talking monetary gifts but just that nice change of responsibility is lovely!!
I'm with you...so many holidays were made up by Hallmark and the florists as a way for them to make money!
Anyway, shouldn't every day be Mother's Day?? :)
I can see your point, Melissa. I was mostly talking about actual, physical gifts! I've known a few women in my life who INSIST on gifts from their husbands on Mother's Day. That is what I think is ridiculous!
Jennifer, I agree with you that every day should be Mother's Day and Father's Day, for that matter!
